Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is only about a century old. Current craps come about from the old English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the 12th century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s paladins played Hazard amid a blockade on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.
Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when expelled by the British, the French moved south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair.
